New Year, Same Pissy Attitude

If you’re expecting a calm, reflective, perfectly polished end-of-year blog post… you’re definitely in the wrong place. I’m closing out 2025 the only way that feels appropriate: with sarcasm, side-eye, and brand-new stamps from the Pissy Kitty collection. These two cards—Leg Day and Cupid—are basically the emotional support animals we all need as the calendar flips to a new year.

Let’s be honest: New Year energy is overrated. Pissy Kitty gets it.

Cupid, But With Boundaries ????????

This Cupid card is for those of us who do love people… we’re just not interested in yelling about it. Floating in with wings, a bow, and a deeply unimpressed expression, Pissy Kitty Cupid delivers the perfect message: “I love you. I’m not saying it louder.”

Soft pinks, subtle hearts, and then BAM—pure attitude. This is the card you give when you want to acknowledge feelings without committing to eye contact or enthusiasm. Romantic? Sure. Over-the-top? Absolutely not. Basically, it’s love—on your terms.

Leg Day & Cheat Year Energy ????️‍♀️????

Now this card feels personal.

Nothing says “new year” like big bold numbers and a completely unserious attitude toward resolutions. Pissy Kitty is stretched out, ready for leg day, and fully committed to the sentiment: “This is my cheat year.” Honestly? Same.

Bright colors, oversized 2025, and a cat who clearly read the resolution list and laughed. This card is perfect for birthdays, New Year laughs, or anyone who already knows they’re not giving up carbs, snacks, or joy. If motivation looks like this in January, you’re doing just fine.

Signing Off 2025 with a Hairball ????✨

As this marks my last blog post of 2025, it feels only right to end the year with cards that perfectly capture the mood: slightly unmotivated, mildly affectionate, and completely unapologetic. These Pissy Kitty stamps are a reminder that handmade cards don’t always have to be heartfelt or serious. Sometimes they just need to say what everyone else is thinking—with whiskers and attitude.

Thank you for crafting along with me this year, laughing at the snark, and embracing cards that don’t behave. I’ll see you in the new year… probably still cheating.

Easy New Year wine card – pretty papers

Hi and welcome.  Gaylynn here.  Welcome.  For today, I am sharing an easy New Year wine card for fun and festive wishes.

Actually, this was easier to make than it seems.  Just some paper and a bit of color.

Sentiment:  Happy New Year

Helpful tips:
In summary, to make this easy New Year wine card, begin by trimming patterned paper for the background and accents.  Then, die-cut or stamp the sentiment.  Next, stamp the bottle and the glass on white cardstock using alcohol friendly ink.  Also, add a touch of color to the stamping.  I used Copic markers, but use what you have.  Then, fussy cut (cut out) the bottle and the glass.  Finally, using a mix of glue, flat and foam double-sided tape, layer it all onto the card base, to finish.

Spotlight Moment

Happy Friday!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m rounding the year off with this clean and simple design that puts a spotlight on your card (and your stamps).  Using the December 2022 Sentiment Kit: Shake Your Flakes and the new Freaking Cold stamp set, this technique is a great way to highlight an image without too much fuss.

For this first card, I started by stamping the larger image in the Shake Your Flakes stamp set and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Because I was using white paper, this allows for it to remain white when later adding distress oxide over it.   You can also use white embossing powder too, but both work.

Next, I added distress oxide to the background in an ombre order. Using the Scallops and Circles die set, I die cut the image.  I also die cut a few more layers of the circle to back it, adding even dimension to the the image.  Die cutting extra layers allows for depth with minimal fuss, and you can use scraps. I chose to use thicker black card stock for behind the circle.

Once I started playing with this… I had to bring out one of the Angie Girls!  I’m totally digging the new “Freaking Cold” stamp set. And with the weather we just had, it’s totally suiting!  This background was the same process, but I used the smaller stitched rectangle of the Scallops & Stitched Rectangles die set.

I decided to not color her in to keep the background the focus.  I did color her nails in a similar green,  just to keep the vibe going. The block print sentiments are my favorite.  Just stamp them in black and cut them out.  So easy!  Throw some bling and your done!

Remember You Are Loved

Happy New Year’s Eve, Unies!  It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules here and I’m just in shock that we are about to be writing 2022!  And as much as I wanted to share some of the latest stamps that Unity has released, I really thought you needed to know… you are loved.

I was having a creative block these past few weeks. I was overwhelmed with all that is happening near and far.  I just needed to regroup and think about a message I’d like to send out into the world as this year comes to an end.  The April 2020 Sentiment Kit: … Trust It Will Be Okay was perfect.  There are many sentiments, but I thought right now we just need to tell each other how much love we have for each other.

This message needs to carry over the oceans and to all the lands.  That’s when I pulled out the “Love Brings You Home” stamp set and made the message global.

This simple card glows because of the use of Oxides blended in and clear embossing the stamped image using the darkest Oxide color.

As we end one year and start another, make time to express your feeling and sharing positivity so that we can recharge our world.  Wishing each of you a wonderful and healthy start to a new year.

Explore This New Year!

Happy New Year!  We made it to 2021!  Whew… that was a close one.  Now to start the new year off on a good note.  Hi everyone, this is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I’m so honored to be the first blog of the new year!  Today I had a few things in mind… I wanted to use one of my first Unity stamps called “Journee Girl”.  Not sure if it was a post on Instagram or Facebook, but the Unity Girls are definitely what lead me to this amazing company.  I also wanted to use something new like the “Explore” background stamp.  This beautiful new addition is great for travel journals, masculine cards, scrapbooks and even gifts. I love the vintage vibe it gives too.

I chose to mix these two stamps for a couple reasons.

  1.  I think, more than ever, we need to make use of the wonderful crafty things we have.  So I encourage all of you to shop your stash!  We’ve all fallen in love with so many of these beautifully crafted red rubber stamps, but are we giving them enough ink? Let’s bring back some of these classic stamps and give them new life with these newer stamps.
  2. The sentiment from Journee Girl is perfect.  We need to “trust the magic of new beginnings.” Have faith in better days… and then go out and make those days better!
  3. The “Explore” background stamp reminds me of how much I miss traveling.  In 2019, I turned 40 and decided that I would travel to various states in the US to mountain bike with my guy.  Well, at least I got one year out of it!  Doubt it’ll happen next year, but that’s okay. Hopefully, when this is all over, those trips we take will be even more magical!

I encourage you to make magic happen this year.  Make the best of your stash by introducing it to your new finds! Make the best of your days by celebrating your accomplishments and creating new adventures in life. And every day… count your blessing.  Life is good.
