Evergreen Wonderland background of the month November 2024

Greetings, Gaylynn here.  We don’t get snowy scenes like this here in Florida, so I created one in this winter holiday dimensional card. I used the beautiful Evergreen Wonderland background of the month by Unity Stamp Company. This is part of their kit inserts for November 2024.

I love making scenes made from stamps and bits of paper cutting.  Try it for yourself.  It’s fun.

Helpful tips:

1.     Prepare an A2 sized card base from teal cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 5.5″ folded.

2.     Stamp the background in teal green ink onto two sheets of white cardstock.

3.     Trim or die-cut one of the stamped backgrounds using Scallops & Rectangles nesting dies, approximately 4” x 5 ¼”.  Also, add ink blending around the background panel in shades of pink.

4.     From the second stamped background, fussy cut four trees.

5.     Stamp the sentiment onto white cardstock using a metallic silver ink pad or use silver heat embossing.

6.     Fussy cut the sentiment.

7.     Hand trim or die-cut three snow slope shapes from white cardstock.

8.     Add light gray ink blending onto the slope edges.

9.     Adhere the large background panel to the card base using flat double-sided tape and the sentiment with narrow foam tape.

10.  Adhere and layer each of the three slopes with flat double-sided tape along the back bottom edge of each slope.

11.  Optional:  Adhere a white inside liner 4” x 5 1/4”

The Easiest Holiday Cards EVER

Happy Friday Friends!  It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today with the EASIEST holiday cards EVER! Yes… I said EVER!  This snarky fun new stamp set called Snarky Holidays adds a little sass to the holiday festivities with some snarky sentiments. And these sentiments can hold their own on a card and totally make the card perfect as is… so check it out!

Not all of us have a hallmark experience during these family gatherings, so this sentiment might  just be the perfect kind of paper hug a friend or family member might need to get.  It says it all.

This…  well, it’s my favorite. Some may get it; some may not. I think it’s hysterical. I’ll show you another version if you want to be a little extra but I thought this was the EASIEST holiday card EVER!

For some of us, we might have that one member that has a bit too much of that egg nog and gives us something to talk about for a few days.  This ones for you.

I just can’t get enough of this!  I mean it’s so simple and yet soooo funny! AND EASY!

Holiday trees card ~ clean and simple embossing

Hello, it’s Gaylynn. First of all, I want to wish you and yours a very happy holiday season and year ahead.  Thank you for being so supportive.  For today, I am sharing a holiday card with clean and simple embossing.  This card was made with stamped trees, snow drifts and fussy cutting.

Send pretty yet simple holiday greetings with a card like this one.  No coloring is involved.

May this season be filled with abundant joy.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for making this card using clean and simple embossing.  To begin, prepare an A2 sized card base in white.  Also, trim or die-cut a light blue background panel and snow drifts.  Add a bit of gray marker or ink blending to the snow edges for dimension.  Then, stamp and trim the sentiment panel.  Next, using a stamp positioning tool, stamp and heat emboss the trees in white over the green card stock.  Also, heat set the embossing.  Once set, fussy cut (cut out) the trees individually.  Next, to assemble the card, adhere the blue background to the card base.  Using foam and flat double-sided tape, stagger and layer three snow drift pieces and the trees.  Finally, add the sentiment panel, to finish.

Merry Christmas All Around

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m sharing some non-traditional Christmas cards.  There are so many amazingly beautiful stamps to make Christmas and holiday cards, but here are two different cards that can go to that special someone and that coffee drinking friend!  Both cards use the “Merry Christmas All Around Background” stamp in two different ways.  Let’s start with coffee…

For the background, I started by stamping the entire stamp with a light teal color onto Raspberry Luxe card stock.  In order to create that ombre look, I used a slightly darker color and only applied it to the bottom 3/4 of the stamp and re-stamped it.  In order to make the edge of the darker ink subtle,  I gently tapped the edge with a baby wipe.  I continued this process using two darker colors.  Last, I blended in some color on the edges and splattered white paint to give it a little snowy feel.

Send your coffee loving friend a unique personalized holiday card featuring Brystl Girl to show them how much you love them.  This also makes a great gift card holder for your local coffee house.

Now, for that naughty or nice partner… let’s show them a little sassy love with Francine Girl.  Stamping “Merry Christmas All Around” on Wild Cherry Luxe card stock and adding glittery embossing powder give this background a subtle but fun look.  I colored Francine Girl with that same bold red color and found a Naught Nice stamp from “Dear Santa” stamp set to bring this red hot holiday themed card together.

How fun is it to take some of these Angie Girls and have them ring in the holidays?! Definitely try to take some of your favorite Angie Girls and Guys and have them get festive!

Shimmering winter owl night scene ~ card tutorial

Hello, Gaylynn here.  This is a seasonal or holiday card featuring a shimmering winter owl scene.  Today on the Unity blog, I am sharing a way to make these background techniques work together for a dimensional winter scene.

Using metallic splatters, color cardstock, hand cut slopes and a big moon help to make this shimmering winter owl scene come to life.

Helpful tips:

These are helpful tips to create this shimmering winter owl scene.  To begin, stamp the owl and the sentiment, add color and trim to make a tag.  Next, trim or die-cut dark blue cardstock for a background panel.  Then, add watercolor or paint spatters to the blue cardstock in white and metallic gold.  Also, make a moon using distress ink and a circle die-cut.  Next, hand cut two snow slopes from white cardstock.  Add layers of gray on the slope edges for the look of dimension.  Finally, layer it all, to finish.

Winter home snow scene watercolor card ~ tutorial

Hi, Gaylynn here. For Technique Time at Unity, I am showing one way to create a winter home snow scene with added watercolor, paint splatters and snow drifts.

 

Creating a snow scene is easy with snow drift trim and watercolor accents.  Layering up a few different elements adds interest and dimension.

Helpful tips:
Here are helpful tips for creating this winter home snow scene card in watercolor.   To begin, add white paint splatters onto a blue cardstock panel.  Next, die-cut or trim snow drift pieces to overlap and fit onto the card front.  Also, stamp or die-cut a sentiment for the card.  Then, stamp the home with waterproof ink onto watercolor paper.  Next, add watercolor of choice to the house.  I used Zig clean color real brush pens in dark hues.  Then, once dry, fussy cut (cut out) the house.  Finally, layer it all and adhere it to the card front, to finish.

Love from Above

Someone once told me that when a cardinal visits, they carry the wishes of a loved one that has passed.  This image warms my heart thinking I can send this love from above to anyone.  Hi everyone! It’s Jules of Paper Gems by Jules sharing this new stamp designed by Graciellie Designs called “Live for Today.”  This beautiful bird can be colored in many ways, but I wanted it to be a cardinal.

I stamped this image on Neenah Desert Storm card stock and colored it with rich reds (Copic: R89, R29, R27, R24).  I added a little Copic E87 on the tips of the feathers to add a little more detail.  Once the image was colored and die cut, I added some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink on the edges.  Now, to make this a winter card, I used a simple gel pen to add dots of snow and little fluff of snow on this beautiful bird.

When I see this bird, I think of some of the the loved ones that we have lost in the years prior.  It brings me warmth and comfort knowing they might be flying by to see me.  I hope you all know that our cards can bring those feelings of love and joy so please, make sure you know the good you bring into this world.
