Bees Humorous Birthday Card ~ Uniquely Unity

Greetings and welcome to the Unity blog.  It’s Gaylynn.  Here is a humorous birthday card with bees and a margarita glass. Incorporate funny stamping onto vellum and coloring on vellum with alcohol markers.

Noteably, the featured Unity Stamp Company stamps are from the June 2026 Uniquely Unity called Honey, I’m Buzzed. Also, this is sold individually as one-time purchase stamps. To create this card, I used rubber stamping onto vellum, alcohol markers and die-cutting.

 

To begin, here is a look at the finished card.
Sentiment: Hope your birthday is buzz-worthy.

 

In summary, the steps used to create this card are detailed below.

HELPFUL TIPS:

1.     Prepare a vertical white card base 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

2.     Stamp the bees & margarita from the June Uniquely Unity Honey, I’m Buzzed stamps onto vellum using black Staz-On ink and let it dry completely or clear heat emboss.

3.     Stamp it again in black onto white cardstock

4.     With the white bees panel, fussy cut the bees & margarita in one piece.

5.     Stamp the sentiment onto white cardstock.

6.     Onto the opposite side of the stamped vellum, color the bees and margarita in marker shades of orange, yellow and salmon shades.  Trim the vellum approximately 3” x 2 ½”.

8.     Onto the coloring side of the vellum, line up and adhere the stamped white fussy cut panel using clear tape.

9.     Die-cut the black and yellow background panels using a medium and large Deckle & Stitches dies.

10. Die-cut the sentiment with Scallops & Circles dies.

11. Adhere the black and yellow background panels over the card base.  And, cover the yellow panel with the layered vellum panel, stamp side up.

13. Top with the sentiment.

Funny bird card making with vellum softness

Hi friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Sometimes, less is more in card making. I am sharing a funny bird friendship or masculine birthday card. This one was made using simple paper layers, plus added vellum softness. No coloring is needed for this card. It was made to work for anyone for funny birthday occasions.

The products featured are from Little Weirdo stamps. I have included the project steps, a short video and supplies below.

 

To begin, here is a look at the finished card.
Sentiment: Aging is weird. You’re doing great.

 

Helpful Tips:

  1. Precut and score a vertical white card base 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, side fold.

  2. Select background paper from Chillin’ 6×6 patterned paper pad and trim layers using a paper trimmer.

  3. Stamp the bird and the sentiment onto different vellum pieces using permanent ink like Staz On in black. Dry the stamping.

  4. Trim the stamped vellum, a white cardstock panel and the blue background, each 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

  5. Optional: Add brown marker or dye ink color along the edges of the patterned paper cuts.

  6. Trim a double-sided adhesive sheet 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, and a piece larger than the sentiment die.

  7. Peel away one side of the adhesive sheet layer.

  8. To add softness, apply the stamped vellum face up over the sticky side of the double-sided adhesive sheet. Do the same for the sentiment panel. Press over the adhesive to get a smooth, soft look.

  9. Peel away the backing from the adhesive sheet and apply the bird panel over the trimmed white cardstock panel.

  10. Trim the vellum bird vellum panel 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″.

  11. Die-cut the vellum sentiment panel using Scallop Sentiment Dies cut to your sentiment size.

  12. Layer and adhere the background patterned paper layers over the card base, using flat double-sided tape or glue.

  13. Do the same for the vellum sentiment panel.

Bible Journaling Foldable Art Embellishments

Hello and welcome to the Unity blog.  It’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am sharing bible journaling foldable art page embellishments made from vellum. This is a way to add artwork over the scripture with a hinge effect. Also, it showcases a folding feature so the page can be read yet still contain pretty decoration. The steps and supplies are noted below.

Additionally, I added Copic marker coloring, stenciling and colored pencils for the existing bible page art.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Find the bible page fitting for your stamps or art.

  2. Stamp the focal point onto heavy vellum cardstock with permanent all-surface ink like StazOn and dry completely. Optional, use your existing art or decoration.

  3. Color the opposite side of the vellum stamping. I used Copic markers. (The stamped side of the vellum will look softer than the colored side.)

  4. Trim the art down to the size of the image and/or sentiment.

  5. Score a 1/4″ fold line on the edge of the art that corresponds to the side of the page where you want the art to be located. (Fold the art back and forth along the score line.)

  6. Repeat for the sentiment.

  7. Stencil a sun ray onto each art page using distress oxide ink blending in two colors.

  8. Use colored pencils to color in any existing bible page art.

  9. Add extra tacky double-sided tape along the scored edge of each art piece.

  10. Finally, carefully position and adhere your art to the bible pages, allowing one end to fold back and forth.

Vellum spotlight card technique ~ Thoughts and Prayers

Hello and welcome to the Unity blog.  It’s Gaylynn.  Here is another Spring card idea. This project shows a vellum spotlight card technique. The focal point is a set of tulip flowers on vellum against patterned paper. The way to make the tulips pop is outlined below. It is easier than it seems. The supplies are noted below.

Also, adding marker coloring to the back of the vellum helps to soften the look. This card was made for support or sympathy occasions.

 

Helpful Tips:

  1. Prepare an A2-sized card base from white cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 5.5″ folded.

  2. Die-cut or trim a rectangle background frame panel approximately 4” x 5 1/4” from alcohol or watercolor patterned paper.

  3. Using permanent ink, stamp the sentiment and the butterflies over the patterned paper, near the top.

  4. Color the butterflies.

  5. Stamp the tulips onto each of the vellum panels.

  6. Trim one set of stamped vellum tulips by fussy cutting around the stamping.

  7. On the other tulips, color the back of the three tulips only. I used Copic markers.

  8. Fussy cut (cut out) the three colored tulips.

  9. Hand trim white cardstock in the shape of three tulips.

  10. Using a small amount of glue, adhere the colored tulips (uncolored side facing the front) to the corresponding white fussy-cut tulips. Repeat for all three tulips.

  11. Adhere each layered tulip to the vellum stamp tulips.

  12. Finally, layer the background over the card base then add the finished tulips over the card front.

With Sympathy Moth Card ~ Simple but bold embossing

Hello, Gaylynn here.  Thanks for stopping by.  For today, I am sharing simple but bold embossing.  In this sympathy card, I show a way to make the large moth pop with white heat embossing on color cardstock.

This stamp can be used for almost any occasion or theme.

Helpful tips:

In summary, to make this simple but bold embossing effect, begin by selecting color cardstock and vellum paper. First, add powder to the color cardstock panel to prepare for heat embossing. Then, stamp the large moth or butterfly using watermark ink. Next, cover the moth stamping with white embossing powder and then heat set. Also, stamp the sentiment onto a strip of heat-resistant vellum using metallic gold dye or pigment ink. Then, cover the sentiment stamping with clear embossing powder and heat emboss the sentiment. Once dry, use a dry paper towel to wipe away any powder from the panels. Next, trim or die-cut the moth and sentiment panels to fit the card front. Finally, layer it all onto the card base with added gold drops or gems to finish.

Vellum spotlight flower card ~ no coloring

Hi.  Gaylynn here.  For today, I am sharing an easy vellum spotlight flower card.

This was super quick and easy to make and no coloring was involved in the making of it.

Sentiment:  Hey there.

Helpful tips:
In summary, to make this vellum spotlight flower card, begin by making an A2 sized card base in white.  Then, trim a pink background panel.  Next, stamp the large flower, accents and sentiments onto a piece of heat resistant vellum cardstock.  Use StazOn ink or comparable when stamping onto vellum.  Also, heat set or allow the stamping to dry.  Then, trim the stamping a bit smaller than the background.  Next. add white paint splatters over the pink layer and the vellum layer.  Dry completely.  Finally, layer it all onto the card base with optional cording, to finish.

Scrap Paper 3 Ways – Card, Tag & Envelope Liner

Hi there, it’s Gaylynn.  Welcome.  Thank you for visiting.  Today, I show how to use scrap paper 3 ways.  It is a coordinating gift set including a greeting card, a gift tag and an envelope with a matching liner.

Now, go check out your scrapbook paper stash and also the 12×12 paper pads.  You will find treasures perfect to make a set like this.  This sheet is patterned vellum, but most paper works.

Helpful tips:
Here are the steps to easily use scrap paper 3 ways from 12×12 paper pads and more.  To begin, prepare an A2 sized card base in white.  Mine is a top fold base.  Then, trim a piece of patterned paper to fit at a diagonal on your card base. Next, from the same paper sheet, trim a rectangle to fit inside of an A2 sized envelope.  Also, score a fold line just under the envelope adhesive to the envelope fold line.  Cuts and scoring will depend on your envelope measurements and folds.  Then, using the same sheet, die-cut or trim a layered gift tag.  Lastly, add sentiments to the tag and the card using what you have, including optional stamping, ephemera, Cricut cuts, embellishments & more.  Finally, adhere and layer it all, to finish.
