Have a TEE-rific Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and if the dad in your life loves spending weekends on the golf course, this card is definitely a hole-in-one! Today I’m sharing a fun Father’s Day card featuring the Mulligan stamp set and The 19th Hole paper pack from the new Fairway Friends Collection by Unity Stamp Company.

The best part? This card came together surprisingly easy thanks to the perfectly coordinated patterned paper and stamps. No need to “drive” yourself crazy with complicated techniques for this one!

Card Details

I absolutely love the scenic golf course background included in The 19th Hole paper pack. It instantly sets the scene and makes creating masculine cards quick and effortless. The golfer image from the Mulligan stamp set fits right into the background like he was always meant to be there!

The sentiment, “Have a TEE-rific Father’s Day,” adds the perfect finishing touch and makes this card ideal for dads, grandpas, husbands, or any golf-loving guy in your life.

How I Made This Card

1. Die Cut the Background

I started by die cutting one of the patterned papers from The 19th Hole paper pack featuring the golf course background.

2. Stamp the Main Image

Next, I stamped the golfer image and sentiment directly onto the patterned paper background and set it aside.

3. Color & Fussy Cut

I stamped the golfer again onto white cardstock and colored him using Copic markers. Once finished, I fussy cut the golfer, frog, and golf ball separately.

Pro Tip: Use a black marker like the Memento Dual Tip Marker in Tuxedo Black to color the edges of your fussy cut images. This gives them a clean, polished finish and helps hide those white edges!

4. Add Dimension

Using a fine tip glue bottle, I carefully adhered the fussy cut pieces directly over the stamped images on the patterned paper, lining everything up perfectly for a dimensional layered look.

5. Finish the Card

Lastly, I backed the panel with brown cardstock and adhered everything onto a white card base.

Easy peasy — no bogeys here! ????

10 Minute Card Making with Mulligan

Hello and welcome to the Unity blog.  It’s Gaylynn.  Make a card in 10 minutes or less without coloring. This one celebrates Father’s Day with funny sentiments and a golf theme. This was created in less than ten minutes with a mix of supplies on hand. Coloring is optional, especially for masculine cards. Sometimes less is more.

This card project features fun Unity Stamp Company stamps called Mulligan. To create this card, use stamps, die-cutting and patterned paper. I include project tips, a short video and supplies below.

 

To begin, here is a look at the finished card.
Sentiment:
Mulligans are a given at your age.
Have a tee-rific Father’s Day.

Helpful Tips:

  • Prepare a vertical A2 card base in white.

  • Stamp the golfer from Mulligan stamps and the sentiments onto kraft-colored cardstock.

  • Die-cut the golfer panel using the largest of square nesting dies.

  • Die-cut a rectangle background from rectangle dies and from patterned paper.

  • Trim layered border strips from the same paper pack to accent the background.

  • Add white ink blending around the square golfer panel using a white pigment ink pad and a foam blending tool.

  • Using flat and foam double-sided tape, layer everything onto the card front.

Snarky Dad with a Cool Background

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and Father’s Day is this Sunday and if you’re looking for a quick idea for the dads in your life, check out these Snarky Dad stamps featured in these three card. Each have the same idea with a tailored message for your funny guy.

For each of these cards, I used second generation stamping to create the backgrounds. If you’ve never done second generation stamping, it means that you ink up the stamp, stamp it once on scrap paper before stamping it a second time onto your card stock for a lighter amount of ink.

Then I stamp each image and color them in and fussy cut them out. I stamp the sentiments too and use dies to die cut them, leaving room for the image.

I matted the background and the sentiments with black card stock for a little boldness. I also used some foam tape behind the sentiment and the isolated image to add a little dimension. But overall, it’s a super simple layout for any quick card!

Go Fish for Stamps for Dad

Happy Friday! Happy crafty friends, this is Jules of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today with a Fisherman Father’s Day card. Father’s Day is right around the corner and if you’re guy is a big fisherman, you might want to snag some of these new stamps by Unity!

I started with the the background stamp, Below the Ripples Background Stamp, on ivory card stock. I used Faded Jeans Distress Ink on the edge blending inward and then used YG13 and YG23 Copics to color in all of the fish.

Next, I die cut ivory card stock using the Postage Stamp Die and masked off the edge and stamped the guy in Hook, Line & Sinker stamp set and colored it in using Copics. Once colored, I used Tea Die Distress Ink on the edge to give a more aged look. I then stamped the fishing lures from the Reel Great Guy stamp set. I colored two of them in using the same colors and fussy cut them out.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiments from the Hook, Line & Sinker stamp set and die cut it using Scallop & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Dies. Using the Tea Dye Distress Ink, I added the distress color to the edge of the sentiments as well to give that little aged look as well.  And a little foam tape behind it all to add dimension and it’s all done!

Keepin It Classy and Lit

Beep! Beep! Let’s ride into the weekend with this classy muscle car from the new “Keepin It Classy” stamp kit.  This kit is perfect for anyone, but it’s pretty cool for a fun interactive Father’s Day card. I paired it with Pear Blossom Press’s EZ Lights to light it up and it’s pretty darn cool!

I started by stamping the car out and colored it in using Copic markers. I fussy cut it out and set it aside to create the background.  {Copics used: BG78, BG75, BG72, Y06, Y02,  C2}

For the background, I started with a light grey card stock and stamped the Dance with Denim Background stamp with a darker grey ink.  Next, I used a tire tread stencil create tread marks over the background and used white paint to splatter on the background to complete this grunge look.

Next, I die cut the background using the new Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies second largest die. Using that same die, I lined up the stamped and colored car where I wanted it on the background and die cut it to cut off the lights on the right side. This makes it easier to only light up the three lights on the left since the EZ-Lights has a 3 light system.

In order to line up the lights, I used stickles behind the yellow on the back of the car and laid it on the grey card stock.  This allows me to see where to poke the holes for the lights to pop through. From there, I’ll remove the car, poke little holes for each light to sit behind where the three lights on the car are and tape the system onto the back of the grey card stock. Make sure the button to turn on the lights is accessible. I put it under the sentiment.  Using foam tape to create support around it and adhere it to the back base also cut using the largest of the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies.

The last bit is adding the sentiment right over the button so that when you press Happy, the lights turn on.  The sentiment is from “All About Dad” stamp kit and the die is used is part of the new Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Dies.  Once it’s all done, just adhere to your hard base and give this to that cool dad so he can get lit!

Happy Dad’s Day

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules.  Today’s card is tooling around with a couple of masculine stamp kits to create a fun Father’s Day card for that handy dad in your life! I paired Forrest Guy and Best Tool in the Box stamp kits to create this fun card!

Let’s start with the background. I started by stamping the tools randomly on ivory cardstock using a light brown ink. Using Copics, I colored the images in. I also stamped Forrest on the same color cardstock and used the same Copic colors to color his outfit. I die cut out the background using the Scallops & Stitched Rectangles die set and fussy cut Forrest (leaving a little edge for the sentiment later).
Copic Colors Used:

  • Greens: YG63, YG61, G20

  • Hair, T-shirt & Tools: W6, W4, W3, W1, W0

  • Skin: E55, E53, E51

Pro Tip: For added detail, I used a white gel pen to add grays into his hair and stripes onto his plaid shirt. This can personalize your image for that silver fox.

Using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to add some ink to the edge of the background. This will draw the eye to the center and keep Forest as a focal point. I stamped the sentiment using the same light brown ink. I did stamp it a few times to make it a little darker and die cut it out. I added some similar color washi tape to add under Forrest… and a button for fun!

2 Masculine Drink Cards with Shine & Copic Markers

Hi friends, it’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am sharing 2 masculine drink cards with shine and with Copic marker coloring.  These were made similarly with patterned paper.


For ease, I kept the designs and layouts simple with a focus on the drink glasses.

Helpful tips:
In summary, to make these 2 masculine drink cards with shine, begin by preparing two A2 size card bases.  I simply chose kraft and white colors to coordinate with the patterned papers.  Then, stamp the drinks and the sentiments onto white cardstock panels.  Also, cut backgrounds and frames from solid and patterned paper.  Next, color in the drink glasses.  I used Copic markers and stamped using alcohol friendly ink.  Then, add a bit of shine to the glasses using a gloss medium of choice.  Finally, adhere all of the dry layers in a wonky manner onto the card bases, to finish.
