Watercolor Dog Themed Pet Greetings 5 Cards

Warm greetings, Gaylynn here.  These are watercolor dog themed pet greetings for dog lovers, pet condolences, adoption, rescue or cute love occasion cards. Of course, these adorable pups can stand on their own. But, I decided to make some of them Valentine or love themed. The cards are easily made for pet adoption or loss. I used watercolor to color all of the dogs.  The supplies are noted below.

Also, patterned paper from the same paper pack was used as accents for these watercolor dog themed cards.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Prepare five A2-sized side fold card bases from white cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 5.5″ folded.

  2. Stamp the dogs, sentiments and accents using black waterproof ink onto the smooth side of white watercolor cardstock, for each of the card front panels.

  3. Using the watercolor of choice, watercolor the stamped panels. I used watercolor colors from a pan set.

  4. Heat set the watercoloring or allow them to dry completely.

  5. Die-cut the watercolor panels and the sentiments.

  6. From a paper pack with similar colors, trim layers, accents and borders for paper accents.

  7. Optional: Die-cut extra sentiment icons and add them to the cards.

  8. Finally, adhere all of the layers over the card base using double-sided adhesive or glue.

  9. Use what you have on hand to get started. I list the supplies that I used in this project, but incorporate what you already have.

Watercolor graduation hat floral card + Unity birthday

Hi friends, Gaylynn here.  I have a watercolor graduation hat floral card, ready for celebrating.

For a soft look, I added watercolor for color in coral and teal shades.  Also, I chose a complementing sheet of patterned paper to accent.

Sentiment:
Bittersweet endings, exciting beginnings.

Helpful tips:
For this watercolor graduation hat floral card, begin by preparing an A2 sized card base in white.  Also, trim a sheet of patterned paper for a background layer.  Then, onto the smooth side of the watercolor cardstock, stamp the grad cap and sentiment.  Next, add your choice of loose watercolor, allowing some of the white paper to show.  Note, be sure to dry or heat set each color section before moving on to a new color section.  Then, add light gray shading around the stamping.  (I used a watered-down black watercolor to get the light gray shade.)  Next, trim or die-cut a border from the watercolor panel.  Finally, layer the background and the hat panel using flat and foam double-sided tape, to finish.

Gold heat embossing & watercolor congratulations card

Hi friends, it’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am showing a gold heat embossing & watercolor together for a congratulations card.  It has a stained glass look to it.

I used three stamp kits for this including the large floral background stamp.


Sentiment:
Congratulations.
Hooray for you!

Helpful tips:
In summary, to make this card using gold heat embossing & watercolor, begin by preparing an A2-sized card base in white.  Then, onto the smooth side of watercolor cardstock, stamp the background in watermark ink.  Also, stamp the sentiments in dark purple ink.    Next, add gold embossing powder and heat set for shiny gold embossing.  Also, trim or die-cut the background card layer.  For watercolor, mix the desired colors and then color in the embossed stamping.  Allow the colors to blend together where they meet.  Once dried, assemble the card layers, sentiments and accents onto the card base, to finish.  Optional, add colored butterflies or accents.

Watercolor Valentine card + using scraps.

Hello and welcome.  It’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am sharing a watercolor Valentine card featuring big hearts and a coordinating frame layer.  I used scraps from a previous project.

These big candy hearts will surely make an impact on Valentine’s Day or love occasions.


Sentiment:  Happy Valentine’s Day

Helpful tips:
In summary, these are helpful tips for making this watercolor Valentine card.  To begin, prepare an A2-sized card base.  Then, make a frame or accents using leftover scraps like I did.  Or, stamp doilies in different colors and then using a rectangle die, cut out the center of a card panel to make a frame.  Next, stamp two hearts onto watercolor cardstock.  Also, stamp the sentiment onto one of the hearts.  Then, add watercolor to both using coordinating colors.  Once dried, fussy cut (cut out) the hearts.  I added black marker shading around the edges to make the hearts pop.  Finally, layer and adhere it all onto the card front, to finish.

Vintage watercolor holiday card ~ Mailbox

Hello, it’s Gaylynn. Today, I am sharing a vintage watercolor holiday card with a mail or postage theme.

 

Using light colors and accents, this vintage watercolor holiday card came to life.

Sentiment:  Making spirits bright.  Let your heart be light.

I share a video tutorial for this project and technique.

Helpful tips:
In summary, here are helpful tips for making a vintage watercolor holiday card.  To begin, stamp using waterproof ink onto watercolor paper.  Also, mask the envelopes to make a cascading look to them.  Next, prepare an A2 card base from colored cardstock.  Then, make a palette of desired colors for your project.  I blended some of the colors together to get the hues that I wanted.  Then, using a wet paint brush, carefully add touches of color, one section at a time.  Once finished, heat set or leave out to dry completely.  Finally, adhere the panel onto the card base, with added gems or embellishments, to finish.

Watercolor winter scene slimline card making

Hello, Gaylynn here.  Today, I am sharing a watercolor winter scene slimline card with sweet stamping.

Wintertime looks so peaceful, especially with snow.  It was fun to make this watercolor winter scene with these beautiful stamps.

Sentiment:  Happy Jolly Holiday

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for making this watercolor winter scene slimline card.  To begin, prepare a slimline card base in white.  Then, trim or die-cut a background layer and also a stamped watercolor paper layer.  Stamp with waterproof ink.  I used this sweet winter scene stamp and sentiment combination.  Next, mix watercolors with water to make a color palette.  Then, begin adding the wet watercolor to the dry stamped panel.   Also, heat set or leave to dry completely.  Finally, layer it all onto the card base, to finish.
Card base:  cut 9″ x 8″
Background layer:  cut 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
Stamped layer:  cut 8″ x 3″

Emboss resist with Brusho watercolor + Copics

Hello, it’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am sharing a watercolor birthday card using emboss resist with Brusho watercolor plus added Copic coloring.

This is a vibrant celebration card, perfect for birthdays and more.  The emboss resist with Brusho watercolor really pops.

Sentiment:  Hip Hip Hooray.

Helpful tips:

These are helpful tips for making this card using emboss resist with Brusho watercolor powders.  To begin, stamp and heat emboss the background in white onto watercolor paper.  Next, die-cut or trim panels for the sentiment and the girl.  Also, stamp the girl and the sentiment with waterproof ink.  Then, color in the girl.  I used Copic markers.  Next, onto a waterproof craft mat, spritz the embossed background panel with water.  Then, carefully sprinkle the watercolor powder over the water until you get the desired color saturation.  Be sure to protect all surfaces, hands and craft areas from getting stained.  Next, blot any puddles and then heat set or leave out to dry overnight.  Finally,  trim and add all layers onto the card base, to finish.
